Help Guide the Future of NHCIA
Are you interested in making a difference in the lives of people with a developmental disability in North Hastings?
NHCIA is supported by a volunteer Board of Directors made up of people from our local community. Board members help guide the organization, support good decision-making, and ensure NHCIA continues to respond to the needs of people, families, and the community.
About the Board
NHCIA has been incorporated as a not-for-profit organization since 1965. Today, we support approximately 150 children, youth, and adults with a developmental disability, along with their families. Our Board of Directors represents a cross-section of the community, including people with lived experience, family members, local business representatives, service providers, and community members who want to make a positive difference.
Board Member Requirements
According to the association’s by-laws, all NHCIA Directors must:
- Support NHCIA’s Mission Statement and goals
- Hold a membership in the Association
- Be over 18 years of age
- Be a Canadian citizen
- Be able to commit to a four-year term on the Board
Time Commitment
Board meetings are held once per month from September to June.
Board members may also take part in committee work, fundraising initiatives, strategic planning, policy review, and community celebrations throughout the year.
Why Join the Board?
Board members play an important role in protecting and strengthening NHCIA’s service quality, community partnerships, and positive reputation. By joining the Board, you can help support an inclusive community where people with developmental disabilities are valued, respected, and supported.
