Who We Are
North Hastings Community Integration Association is a not-for-profit organization that has been serving children, youth, adults, and families in North Hastings since 1965.
We support people with developmental disabilities through programs, services, and person-centred support that help build connection, independence, and participation in community life. Our work continues to evolve in response to the needs of individuals, families, and the wider community.

Our Approach
At NHCIA, we believe support should begin with the person. Every individual has their own strengths, goals, interests, and hopes for the future, and meaningful support starts with listening and building understanding.
Our approach is person-centred, respectful, and flexible. We work with individuals and families to provide support that reflects each person’s unique needs and choices. This may include everyday living support, connections to community resources, help with planning for the future, assistance with funding applications, or opportunities to build confidence and life skills.
We also believe that strong support is built through partnership. By working closely with families, local services, schools, employers, and community organizations, we help create opportunities that are practical, inclusive, and rooted in real life.
Inclusion in Everyday Life
Inclusion is built through everyday experiences — being welcomed, being heard, having choices, and having opportunities to take part in community life in meaningful ways.
At NHCIA, we believe true inclusion means more than simply being present. It means being respected, valued, and recognized for who you are and what you contribute. It means having the opportunity to build relationships, make decisions, develop skills, and be part of the community with dignity.
This understanding shapes the work we do and the partnerships we build. We are committed to helping create a community where people with developmental disabilities are fully included as neighbours, friends, co-workers, and citizens.
